We just celebrated Will's 5th birthday on December 6th! I can't believe it.
For our boy's birthdays we always just do family parties because both of our families are here in Twin Falls. It is much easier, that way I don't have to worry about keeping a bunch of little kids entertained...I would stink at that. So, in talking about his birthday we were discussing the usual plan of having a low key cake and ice cream celebration at our house with Grandmas and Grandpas. Well, now that Will is 5, he has been to a few parties for his friends and understands that birthday parties should consist of bounce houses, balloons and confetti everywhere, goodie bags, friends, friends and more friends. He wanted a friend party. So, we compromised. He got to choose 4 of his friends and we made it a family night birthday party. We held it at the bowling alley so that I did not have to provide the entertainment. We had pizza and did the cake and ice cream thing, and Will got the pleasure of opening gifts from his friends. It was very low stress and everyone had a lot of fun. Will was thrilled!
We can't believe how fast time flys. In five more years he will be 10. David, Brent's youngest brother was 10 when Brent and I got married. Now Dave is a senior in high school, preparing for college and a mission. So, a few blinks from now I guess we will be sending Will off on his mission and we will wonder where the time went.
